Valerie Wright was born on July 18, 1960. She was a Harlem native and dedicated her life to advocating for her community. Valerie earned a BA in Psychology from the City College of New York and a MA in Social Work from Columbia University. She spent 24 years of service at Harlem Hospital Center, working in various capacities and later became a program administrator. Valerie coordinated several charitable events and raised funds to benefit key initiatives: She is remembered for her time spent growing the Harlem Hospital Center Walks program, bringing awareness to staff and community members through involvement in charitable walks. She held an annual Holiday event for 300 community school children to spread some holiday cheer. She also spear- headed pianning for the Blood Drive, emphasizing the importance of saving lives through donations.

Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched, and we dedicate the January 25 Blood Drive in her honor.
